Free WPA Presentations

Free WPA presentations typically are available before each administration: a lecture hall presentation and a small-group workshop that features a practice exam, which is offered through the Writing Center.


Lecture Hall Presentation

This WPA lecture provides a general overview of the exam through a PowerPoint presentation. All students planning to take the WPA are encouraged to attend this presentation and pre-registration is not required. The schedule for future WPA presentations is available below. In addition, the PowerPoint and article featured in the lecture are available for download:

Writing Center WPA workshops

3-Hour Workshop

Tuesdays, 4-7pm on Sept. 5, Sept. 26, Oct. 10, or Oct.24
Location: Writing Center, LLA1103 (Sept. 5), TBD (Sept. 26), LL430 (Oct. 10 and 24)

This 3-hour workshop includes a brief overview of the WPA prompt followed by a practice exam. The workshop is limited in enrollment and requires registration through the Writing Center. Please bring a Blue Book to the workshop for the practice exam and prepare by reading the following before the workshop.

1-Hour Workshop

Mondays, 1-1:50 pm on Sept. 25Oct. 9, or Oct. 23
Location: Writing Center, LLA1103

The 1-hour workshop will include a brief overview of the Writing Placement Assessment (WPA) prompt. Participants will read a short article and apply this overview.
